We all love a mystery – but what about a mystery that has no solution? Delve into the shadowy world of unsolved disappearances and people who have vanished without a trace, never to be seen again. Such strange and chilling tales run the gamut of the terrifying and the bizarre and include crime victims, lost explorers, ships that vanished at sea, outdoor disappearances, and supernatural mysteries that defy all explanation.
Among these pages you’ll find accounts of America’s Lost Colony, history’s most famous ghost ships, famous figures who vanished into the unknown, the unknown fate of America’s first kidnapping for ransom, a vanished heiress, lighthouse keepers who impossibly disappeared, the killer who escaped the noose – permanently, the Grand Canyon adventurers who were never seen again, the Prohibition lawman’s nephew who was never found, the Ohio sorority girl who never made it home, the abducted housewife who disappeared, the Hollywood starlet who left her family behind, a missing West Point cadet, the babysitter who vanished on Halloween, the missing Texas couple who may have been Russian spies, the little boy who walked away for good in the Smoky Mountains, a missing heiress to a candy empire, a missing TV news reporter, a long distance runner whose run never ended, plus infamous vanishings of figures like Theodosia Burr, Amelia Earhart, Glenn Miller, Judge Crater, Jimmy Hoffa, and far too many more!
Just remember as you turn the pages, that if these people so easily vanished from the face of the earth, then it means it could happen to anyone – perhaps even you. You may want to read this one with the lights on!

Discover Troy Taylor’s second book of mysteries that may never be solved – those of people who simply disappeared one day and were never see again. These are unexplained cases both tragic and heartbreaking and the fact that he could so easily put together stories for a second book about missing people tells us a lot about how many people still vanish without a trace and are never found.
In his first book on the subject, he covered classic cases of the missing and the lost but soon, it turned out that the stories he didn’t cover got attention all their own – which led to this book. This time, he takes the reader off the beaten path and to places in search of people who aren’t so well-known and reveals cases you’ve likely never heard of before – but are so chilling, strange, and terrifying that they can’t be left out. And once you know about them, you’ll never forget them.
You’ll find the cases of the little girl who was picking flowers one day in a state park – steps away from her family – who was never seen again; the Massachusetts housewife who mysteriously disappeared, leaving nothing behind but some empty beer bottles, a ransacked house, and bloodstains on her kitchen floor; The “Lost Boys” of Hannibal, Missouri, who launched one of the first cave rescue operations in modern history; the two best friends from Oklahoma whose disappearance became tangled in stories of meth, madness, and a modern-day ghost town; A young couple who attended a rock festival in 1973 but never came home; plus, literally dozens of other stories of paper boys and girls, pizza delivery drivers, vanishing hitchhikers, college students, young job seekers, high school athletes, abusive husbands, missing mistresses, wandering truth-seekers, dishonest spouses, and more!
This is a book that will make you think twice about walking across that dark parking lot by yourself in the future!
ABOUT THE SECOND VOLUME:
Discover the book that Troy Taylor never intended to write! While his interest in missing and vanished people has never ended, he didn’t plan to write another book about tragic and heartbreaking mysteries that will likely never be solved. So, why return to telling stories that seem so hopeless?
He likely wouldn’t have if not for the listeners of the American Hauntings Podcast, who responded to an entire season of the show about missing people by deluging Troy with the stories he didn’t cover. As with the first volume of WITHOUT A TRACE, the show covered all the famous cases of strange disappearances but then he started to receive stories he didn’t know about. The more he researched the stories sent in, the more he realized how much he wanted to get those stories out there, too – and the second volume was born.
This time, he’s taking you to different places than before in search of people you’ve likely never heard of. Some you might know, of course, but with others – unless you live in the place from which they vanished – the stories will be new, and many will have never appeared in print before.
And once you know about those people, you’re unlikely to ever forget them.
The fact that cases could be so easily found for a second book about missing people – and honestly, there’s enough to fill a third, fourth, or fifth -- should tell you a lot about how many people still vanish without a trace and are never found.
Current numbers say that as many as 600,000 people go missing and are never found each year in America. These are not the people who show up hours or days after going missing – these are the people who are never found. It seems hard to believe this can still happen, with cameras, cell phones, and social media seemingly following our every move, but it can and does. These stories never really end – Troy just had to stop writing and hope that someday the lost would be found and the story would have a conclusion.
However, there are no conclusions to the stories in this book, even though every case collected here occurred in the last century, most of them within the last 50 years. Some of them are even uncomfortably close to the present day and are stories that should have an ending, yet they don’t.
